Want more street cred? Here are just a few of Janet’s recent projects:
- Business planning for a number of small businesses ranging from lingerie to gourmet food to fitness studios. As a result of collaborative planning, many of these business owners have seen growth in their business in the form of the addition of new locations, increases in revenue and achieving goals of seeing revenue numbers exceed seven figures
- Program Management for the multi-million-dollar program of projects for the integration of two major financial services organizations
- Strategy, product development, project management, and business analysis for two of Canada’s largest insurers in both the Group Benefits and Group Retirement organizations
- Project Management for a number of legislative projects for a Canadian insurer’s global investments organization
Janet is also the co-founder of Merit Publishing and the co-editor of the Women of Merit Publication (womenofmerit.ca)—a publication which profiles women in her local community who have achieved personal or professional success. Women of Merit has recently launched a licensing opportunity for other communities with publications currently in the Waterloo Region and Etobicoke.
Before literally pivoting to start PIVOT Project Solutions (we couldn’t help ourselves), Janet owned and operated a wellness clinic in Kitchener. She ran this business for four years before closing the doors. She believes failure is important and we all have important lessons to learn from our unsuccessful attempts. Janet believes failure isn’t something to hide—it takes courage to have tried something and took a risk. Janet uses the lessons she has learned from both her successes and failures as foundation for providing advice to clients as well as in her role as a mentor through the Canada Youth Business Foundation.
Janet has been awarded the Mompreneur of the year award, has been nominated by the Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber of Commerce for Young Entrepreneur of the Year and her businesses have received many accolades in the community.
Janet has an MBA and a Masters in Sport and Recreation Administration from the University of the New Brunswick as well as an Honours Degree in Kinesiology from Lakehead University. In addition to being a serial entrepreneur, she’s a marathon runner, the proud mother of two amazing boys (Gavin and Zack), a wife to Nick and the owner of a lovely Bernese Mountain Dog named Grace who is currently in training to be a therapy dog.
